Ascentys appointed as a Mobile Gateway Solutions VAR

Ascentys announced today its appointment as an authorised reseller of the full product set of mobile phone software from Mobile Gateway Solutions Holdings.

John Ramsey, marketing director at Mobile Gateway: “The numbers are simple.  In South Africa there are about 1.4m internet users and over 42m mobile phone users.

“This shows that in South Africa, with a population of 47m, while we have a lower ratio of internet users (less than 3% compared to global 20%), we are streets ahead in terms of our mobile phone usage.  This makes the attraction of software applications running on mobile phones much higher.  Over the past six months the licence count of our mobile phone applications has increased by over 6 500.

“The cellular phone has become a business application platform as well as an information retrieval device (e.g. Google, information feeds, etc.).  And you can still phone home. 

“While desktop-based business applications still have their place in the economy, as workers become more mobile there is an increasing need for mobile applications.  Our products include mobiletripsheet, fleetcontroller, mobilesales, mobilejobcard, mobileagent, mobiletimesheet, pulse8 and mobilemessenger.  All are monthly subscription-based services with the exception of mobilemessenger and pulse8 which are free-to-use IM (instant messaging) and always-on email products.”
