The Challenge

The Diesel Electric sales team calls on clients in order to market its automotive product lines. Diesel Electric were looking for a way to speed up the sales process and increase the professionalism of their salesmen in front of their customers

Previously, while in front of the customer, the sales staff would have to phone the head office and enquire on product pricing and stock levels.  This could require multiple calls and consequent paper-based recording to complete the sales process.  The result - no clear differentiation in value between themselves and their competitors as well as contributing to a high cost of sales in a very competitive market.

The Solution

Using mobilesales, a software application that runs on a cellphone or a PDA device, the mobile user requests the required product information from Diesel Electric’s server.  It is instantly displayed on the cellphone for the salesperson and client to make immediate decisions.  Since only selected and relevant information on clients or product pricing is retained on the mobile device the risk of exposing confidential information is radically reduced.  All of the communication between the cellphone and the server is secured by Integr8or, the Mobile Application Server from MobileGateway.

Access is controlled by allowing only authorized mobile users to access the system.  This authority can easily be removed should the need arise if, for example, a sales person leaves the employ of Diesel Electric or a cellphone is lost or stolen.
